The Oxford University IT Users' Group exists to serve all users of IT who are current members of Oxford University. It is a forum for discussion of IT issues and meets regularly each term normally in week 0. Special meetings are held at other times, and the group organises open meetings on topics of specific interest to IT users.
It is a delegate body consisting of representatives from departments, faculties, institutions and other groups of users (referred to as constituencies). The list of constituencies is decided by the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Committee in consultation with the Users' Group. The primary representative is someone who is fully involved with the constituencies strategic planning in the IT area. Constituencies are welcome to send a second person who has a more intimate knowledge of computing matters. Current membership is listed in a subsequent section. There is a parallel Colleges' IT Group.
The major committee for all computing matters within the University is the Information & Communications Technology Committee (referred to as the ICT Committee) which reports to the General Board and the Hebdomadal Council. The ICT Committee oversees the activities of all University computing. Various committees report to the ICT Committee on strategy in their area and the ICT Committee formulates the overall strategy.
Further details of the Constitution of the Users' Group and its workings can be obtained from the Secretary.
Users wishing to raise matters at these meetings should contact their constituency representative at least 4 weeks prior to the date of the meeting.
