projects: Groupware Project Board
The Office of the Director of IT web pages provide historical information on the decisions, planning and project management which led to the project being successfully passed to OUCS for implementation.
The Director of IT remains responsible for the delivery of the Groupware solution to the University and the project team continue to report to the Project Board (until March 2010). The Development Panel continue to consider how best to develop the solution (particularly the SharePoint platform) in line with the strategic goals of the University.
Project Board
The Groupware Project Board is responsible for overseeing the Groupware Project which began formally on 1 March 2008, following the work of the Groupware Requirements Panel. The project continues until spring 2010, the major decision points were taken in the early stages of the project (March to September 2008). Early adopters used the Groupware solution from Michaelmas term 2008.
The Project Board is responsible for reviewing the recommendations from the Project Team and Short-Listing Panel, challenging these requirements if/when appropriate and is responsible for all decisions made with respect to the project.

Remit
- To steer the project, provide direction and (collectively) take the major decisions pertaining to the project.
- To communicate the progress of the project to the University governance structures.
- To provide leadership, momentum and support to the Project Team, Selection Panel, and any other relevant bodies in the project.
- To oversee the Invitation to Tender, if a tendering process is required, and agree revised budgets at the scheduled Budget Review Points.
- To ensure that the groupware solution chosen, and the way that it is deployed, is in the best interests of the University and that the substantive needs of the majority of users are met as much as is reasonably possible.
