Shaping the current IT Governance Structure

The University's Corporate Plan 2005/6 to 2009/10 (PDF 235 KB), considered the delivery of IT across the collegiate University and recommended the development of an over-arching ICT strategy.

To develop this ICT strategy, Council approved the formation of an ICT Steering Group led by Professor Paul Jeffreys (then the Director of OUCS). The Steering Group developed the ICT Strategic Plan 2005/6 to 2009/10 for the collegiate University.

The ICT Strategic Plan recognised that the University of Oxford needed:
  • co-ordinated IT governance
  • a single forum for setting ICT strategy and agreeing priorities
The ICT Strategic Plan led to:
  • the reorganisation of IT governance within the University
  • the formation of the PRAC ICT Sub-Committee
  • the creation of the post 'Director of IT'
